China Embassy in Pledge to Protect Interns in Japan
The Chinese Embassy in Japan will take strong measures to protect the legitimate rights of Chinese nationals working in Japan under the Japanese government-sponsored Technical Intern Training Program for foreigners.
The embassy has reiterated it places high importance on such training programs, and on protecting its citizens so participate. The programs are designed to provide valuable technical training to new workers from developing countries. About 85,000 such trainees visited Japan last year under the program.
The Chinese embassy said it will increase contacts with the Japanese government to promote concrete measures to protect interns’ legal rights. Reportedly the Chinese embassy provided consular protection and assistance for Chinese trainees involved in some 100 cases in Japan last year.
